What are large pores?

The pore serves as an outlet for both hair follicles and sebaceous glands, responsible for secreting sebum. When a pore exceeds 0.02m㎡, it's classified as large and often leads to an uneven skin surface. Accumulated dead skin cells and keratin atop the skin's surface contribute to thicker, rougher skin and enlarged pores. This buildup hinders the absorption of water and nutrients, resulting in dull, dry skin and increased sebum production. Aging exacerbates the issue as collagen loss reduces skin elasticity and support around hair follicles, further enlarging pores. Additionally, skin that appears oily but feels dry can also enlarge pores.

Causes

1. Excess Sebum: Too much oil production due to weather, hormones, diet, and stress can clog pores and make them look bigger.

2. Aging: Skin loses elasticity with age, causing pores to stretch and appear larger.

3. Hair Follicle Size: Expanded hair follicles can stretch pores, as can scarring from severe acne.

4. Smoking: Smoking restricts blood flow, leading to dry skin, premature aging, and larger pores.

5. Sun Damage: UV rays damage collagen, making pores larger.

6. Clogged Pores: Dead skin cells and oil can block pores, making them bigger.

7. Other Factors: Squeezing pimples and blackheads can damage skin and enlarge pores.

What are the different types of large pores?

1. Enlarged Pores from Keratin Buildup: Clogs pores, trapping sebum inside and causing blackheads and whiteheads to form.

2. Enlarged Pores with Oily Skin: Excessive sebum production enlarges pores, especially in the T-zone (forehead and nose), resulting in a greasy appearance and larger, U-shaped pores.

3. Enlarged Pores with Dry Skin: Often exhibits oval-shaped pores, which can become more noticeable and enlarged after long flights due to skin dehydration. Dry skin typically has a more visible texture compared to other skin types.

4. Aging Skin & Enlarged Pores: May exhibit Y-shaped pores due to collagen loss and decreased elasticity, causing adjacent pores to collapse and form line-like patterns.
